Seattle Sounder MLS Cup Victory Parade

Thanks to my friend and Seattle Sounders FC season ticket holder Matthew Sursely I actually went to several games this season and enjoyed it quite a bit. I ventured down the the celebratory parade and captured some video and photos for Do206.

My Interview with SkateSlate Magazine

I don’t work in the skate industry anymore, but I still skateboard and I do miss being involved. I am going to start doing web development work and content creation with SkateSlate. I have a few ideas for some interviews I am going to start working on and a few video side projects. With that being said, thanks to SkateSlate editor, Les Robertson, for taking the time to interview me for the magazine. Read the full Interview HERE A few photos and video from the Interview:

Sun and Snow in Seattle

It has not snowed before Christmas in Seattle for at least a few years. That changed this week. It clear and cold for a few days and you could see the snow in the mountains piling up. And then it finally snowed. Twice actually. Once where it stuck around for about 2 hours and then disappeared. Then it snowed  again where it stuck around over night and then started to rain in the morning. Kids ride bikes in the snow, built snowmen in the park, and naturally there were several car accidents on the hills of Capitol Hill. Luckily, it started to melt before the Friday morning commute.

The Seattle Skyline in the Fog

The Seattle skyline covered in a low-lying fog is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. The Space Needle and buildings poking out of the clouds always makes for a good photo. With that being said I managed to capture the fog flying back from Texas. I was  on an Alaskan Airlines flight, in coach, capturing photos through double airplane windows. I didn’t think that I would get a better photo than the one of Mount Rainier above, but I was wrong. When we started to get over Seattle I saw fog in the distance. When we started our descent I took as many photos as I could because shooting through the double-glass airplane windows is not the best. It could have been better, but I like how a few of them turned out. A few weeks later the fog returned. I woke early to take the dog out right after sunrise and saw fog wrapped around the Space Needle. I ran back to my apartment and to my photo spot on Capitol Hill to capture a few more photos. It was so good I decided to leave my camera running for a time-lapse. I ended up editing […]

Sleeklens Landscape Photoshop Actions and Lightroom Presets Review

I was recently approached by Sleeklens to try out their Photoshop Actions and Lightroom Presets to give an honest review. I don’t use actions and presets very often since I tend to do my own editing, but I have used Mastin Labs presets and Greater Than Gatsby actions in the past for wedding and portraits to achieve a certain look clients were asking for. Sleeklens seemed to offer actions that I would use on a regular basis with my landscape, cityscape and time-lapse videos. This is the first time I have ever tried any Photoshop actions for landscape photography though, so I was excited to test out what Sleeklens offers. The Install was a cake walk and so was the basic run through of the possibilites that were outlined in the video (how to install and how to use). My first image I decided to edit was a photo from Kerry Park in Seattle, Washington featuring the Space Needle. I decided to tryout the Sleeklens Landscape Adventure Actions first using Photoshop CC. Original Sleeklens Edit The actions I used helped with the exposure and contrast of the image and it was an improvement over the original and had nearly the […]

Pet Halloween Costumes Video

I was recently contacted by Petco to help with their Halloween social media campaign. They wanted me to create a video about shopping for pet Halloween costumes at their stores. The kicker is I had to also be in the video and have a complimentary costume to my dog. Watch the video of Charlie being a shark and myself being a kooky bodyboarder aka shark bait. Although it was somewhat embarrassing to film myself it was a fun project and something I have not created before. In fact, I really enjoyed it and would love to make more videos like this in the future of the opportunities arise.

New website project: Meet OXS Enterprises

I recently built a website for long-time friend Sam Price who lives in New Zealand. He stayed with me when I lived in Bellingham to skimboard and I have worked with him on several projects over the years. Recently, Sam contacted me about building a new website to sell prints and show the world his video, photo and drone skills. I just finished up on Sam’s new website OXSenterprieses.com. It was fun bringing Sam’s idea to life and I took a few minutes to talk with him about his business once we launched the new website. Q. What does OXS stand for? A. OXS came from the logo design. OXS Skimboards was originally named Omax Skim. A lot of the locals called Omaha (my home) Omax. I drew the logo up, really liked it, it stuck and 8 years later here we are. Q. What’s your favorite part about capturing video and photo in New Zealand? A. There’s three things really. One is being able to show people what we have here right under our noses, it’s beautiful. Another is being able to look back in years to come and watch a trip over and reminisce about the good old […]

Custom Seattle Coasters featuring my photos

A few months ago I was contacted by by Paisley and Parsley Designs to see if I was interested in licensing some of my photos to their Seattle and 12th Man collection. Paisley and Parsley designs focus on Tumbled Marble Tiles available in both 4×4 coasters and 6×6 trivets. Paisley and Parsley were very easy to work with and I sent them over 30 different options to choose from. They narrowed down there choices to the five below. All of their tiles are printed in the USA and the marble tiles are quarried in Turkey. I have a few of the coasters myself and they are great and my images have not dulled at all. They offer a wide array of options to choose from and you can see more of their products at: Paisleyandparsleydesigns.com. If you are interested in any of my photos for product use and/or licensing do not hesitate to contact me. I offer affordable prices and I am always interested in going out and capturing specific unique photos for custom work. Prints are available along with commercial licensing for all of my photos. You can purchase prints of my photos, cell phone cases, t-shirts, bags and […]

Seafair 2016: Blue Angel Photos

I lucked out due to working at home in Seattle on Thursday and Friday and had the opportunity to capture photos of the Blue Angels for a couple days. This year was special because a 24 flag, in celebration of Ken Griffey Jr’s induction into the hall of fame, was atop the Space Needle also. I also am very luck to have my photo featured on KOMO 4 news for several days thanks to Shannon O’Donnell at KOMO. A composite version of the photo where I slightly fixed the flag also made the rounds on social media getting posted on LiveWashington, Seattle.NW, Do206 and even Yahoo sports. My favorite Mariner, Hall of Fame member Ken Griffey Jr had his jersey retired tonight at Safeco. Photo by @equalmotion of the Blue Angels flying by the @spaceneedle. #LiveWashington to be featured! #BlueAngels A photo posted by Washington State (@livewashington) on Aug 6, 2016 at 8:11pm PDT Epic shot of the @USNavyBlueAngels flying through Seattle captured by our good friend @equalmotion, be sure to visit his account and show him some community kindness! Hope y'all are enjoying the week and filling your days with unforgettable adventures. Keep tagging #igers_seattle on your new and […]
