Seattle Seahawks City brought to you by the 12th Man

The Seattle Seahawks are on their way to their second Super Bowl and I could not be more stoked. After having the opportunity to capture a game on the field this season and talking briefly with Doug Baldwin and Pete Carroll I could not be more of a fan than I ever have in my life. The Seahawks vs Packers game was easily the most amazing football I have ever watched and I have watched it in its entirety again already. Seattle and all the 12s go all out to support the Seahawks and here are some of the photos I have captured over the past couple week around the city of Seattle. Go Hawks! And below is one of my photo of a crowded CenturyLink field I captured way back in 2010. Tomorrow for Blue Friday I plan on posting a bunch of my favorite photos I captured on the field while at the Seahawks game this season. Black and White with a Splash of Seahawks colors

I had the opportunity to be on the sidelines of the Seattle Seahawks versus New York Giants game in November. I have been going through all the photos from the game and picked a few photos that were some of my favorites and did the somewhat cliche edit of a black and white background with the subject in color. Due to the Seahawks dark uniforms this actually worked out pretty well on the first few edits, so I just kept going. Here’s a few of my edits from when the Seahawks destroyed the New York Giants at CenturyLink Field in Seattle. Enjoy and GO HAWKS! DB Skimboards Mini Skim Edits

In hopes of pushing some holiday sales at DB Skimboards I put together several “mini edits” featuring DB Skimboards team riders. I also broke all of these videos up into 15 second versions that were also posted on Instagram and Facebook. The promos worked really well and sales were up over last year with no paid advertising support, which was great. As I go into 2015 I am going to try put out more media that is tailored to each social media platform with an end goal of trying to push traffic back to our websites. It’s a big challenge and I am excited to see what I can do over the next couple months.

Seattle Photography

A few recent Seattle cityscape and landscape photos I captured since I moved to Seattle in mid-December 2014. A fair amount of these photo were captured from my roof top in Capitol Hill and others just during my commute to work. Seattle New Year’s Fireworks from the Space Needle

It was my first year bringing in the new year while living in Seattle and I just happen to have a great view of the Space Needle from my apartment rooftop in Capitol Hill. Here’s a few photos I captured last night of the fireworks shooting off of the Space Needle. It was the first time I saw it in person and I gotta say it was much cooler than I anticipated. Some of these photos have been very popular on Instagram to my surprise and if anyone wants prints or to use them for promotional use feel free to email me at matt@equalmotion.com. Happy 2015 Everyone!

Macro Water Droplets

Macro water drop photos I captured in the Alley District of Bellingham, Washington a few weeks ago. I finally had a chance to edit all of the photos from the photo session. Now that I have finally made the transition from Bellingham to Seattle I hope to spend more time hunting for new macro photos. I also plan on picking up a Canon macro lens to pair with my 5D Mark II and 7D Mark II as I make the switch (kinda) from Canon to Nikon. I captured these photos with a Nikon D7100 and a 105mm macro lens.

Nerding out in celebration of the new Star Wars movie

Each week I have given myself the task to come up with some new macro photos for my macro Monday’s project. Since the new Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens Official Teaser was released and I just so happen to have some Star Wars Legos (thank you best girlfriend ever Alyne for the gift millennium falcon) I decided to use those as the subject. I attempted to recreate the scene of the Millennium Falcon flown by Han Solo and crew with a X-Wing piloted by Luke Skywalker flying away from the Death Star before it exploded in Star Wars IV: A New Hope, but as Legos. I used a long exposure photo I captured on Lopez Island, found the Death Star image and photoshopped my two macro photos into the scene. And below is the nerdiest photo project I have ever taken: After I finished spending about an hour capturing photos and editing stuff together, I started to wonder how many other people were doing the same type of thing with Star Wars Legos and action figures. I had no idea there were so many people doing this and putting in so much time. For instance, FinalFeature’s re-edit […]

Black and White Photo Challenge

Bryce Casselaman nominated me for the Black And White Photo Challenge and it seemed like a fun thing to participate in. Here’s the 5 photos I decided to go with for the challenge. Pipeline The photo I decided to post first was from a huge day at Pipeline on the North Shore of Oahu in 2008. This was easily the most amazing day of surfing I have ever witnessed and I remember this was the only guy who went right while I was there. He pretty much got destroyed right after this frame, but the drop he had alone must have made it work it. A ferry ride to Lopez Island I love my girlfriend Alyne and I love taking photos of her. When we first started hanging out she wasn’t a huge fan of me taking photos of her, but over the the past 10 months she has really opened up to letting me capture more portraits of her. Here’s one from a recent ferry ride to Lopez Island. Beastmode My favorite Seahawks moment ever was Marshawn Lynch’s amazing 67-yard TD run against the Saints in the playoffs. I remember watching that with my friends and everyone freaking out. […]
