Harlem Shake at WWU

The Harlem Shake videos are everywhere and Western Washington University decided to give it a try. Here’s a few photos and a video of the Harlem Shake at Western. The video wasn’t intended to be an actual “Harlem Shake” video. It was just to show local students creating one. That’s not really how people have received it though. Make sure to checkout all of the high quality photos Colin Diltz captured of the even here. Here’s the video I captured for The Bellingham Herald:

First A1 Photo in The Bellingham Herald | Change in the day job

At the beginning of 2013 I switched from being a web developer / IT Manager at The Bellingham Herald to the Multimedia Editor. Although for years I have taken photos and video on the side for the Herald on the side I am not officially capturing images and video for the Herald. I am very excited about the new opportunity. On Saturday I had my first A1 photo featuring one of my eagle photos. I also created a special multimedia section featuring eagle photos, video and a map locating the best places to watch eagles in the Whatcom County. You can find that section here: BellinghamHerald.com/bald-eagles I am now going to feature more of my Bellingham Herald work here also since this site is also my portfolio website.

JD McPherson live at the Wild Buffalo in Bellingham

JD McPherson performed at the Wild Buffalo bringing his retro sound rooted in the rock and roll, rhythm and blues, and rockabilly music of the 1950s to Bellingham, Washington. Here are some photos from December 15, 2012 by Matt McDonald. About JD McPherson Jonathan David McPherson is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He is known for a retro sound rooted in the rock and roll, rhythm and blues, and rockabilly music of the 1950s. Among more obvious influences like Little Richard and Fats Domino, McPherson also draws inspiration from artists as diverse as the Wu-Tang Clan, Pixies, and Led Zeppelin. McPherson grew up in rural southeastern Oklahoma, near the town of Talihina. He took up the guitar at age 13. In high school he played in a number of local punk rock bands and began writing his own songs. During this time, McPherson also developed a strong interest in 1950s rock and roll after being exposed to the music of Buddy Holly. He studied visual arts in college, earning an M.F.A. from the University of Tulsa, and later worked as an art teacher. After deciding to pursue music more seriously, McPherson sent a demo to Jimmy […]

State of Grind: Saturday Session

My good friend Chach Law has been trying to get a indoor skate park going in Whatcom County for quite some time and he has continued to make progress. Last Saturday he put on a skate session / pizza party with the help of UnKnown Board shop and Cicchitti’s Pizza. I only stopped by for about 20 minutes to show some support and here’s some images I captured. Next time there is an State of Grind event you can bet the ole 10.5mm fisheye and I will be there.
