Some people call them “mini planets” others call them “polar panoramas.” Regardless of what you call them they are fun to make and are good to have in your Photoshop bag of tricks.
We started this polar panorama by combining the two photos below. We used the stars from the photo of Teddy Bear Cove in Bellingham, Washington.
We then converted this photo of Honolulu, Hawaii into using the Polar Coordinates option in Photoshop CS6.
After some additional tweaking of the panorama we combined the two images for the final result below.
