I am very excited to say that I recently partnered with CenturyLink to show off the beauty of Seattle in their new Go From Here To There website. Below are the images I captured to represent five different Seattle neighborhoods. You can checkout some of the photos below, but make sure to head on over to the website to get the full experience. The first NW Trail Series longboard race out of 6 put on by Duck Pucks is in the books. Simon Sneethen beat two time champ Spencer Smith at Sammamish Switchbacks yesterday and here are a bunch of photos I captured. Here’s all the photos I captured and feel free to use them as long as you give me photo credit and tag @equalmotion on Instagram, Facebook, Tumblr and/or Twitter. If you want high-resolution copies of the photos you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks to Bradley Cameron and Duck Pucks for putting on a super fun event. Keep your eyes open for the next NW Trail Series in January. This is the first of 6 races, one a month from December to May, so make sure to check back in January.
I have not been to a live show or taken photos at one since last spring, but that all changed last night. I ventured to Chop Suey to watch Flavr Blue along with DJ 100 Proof and it was well worth the trip. DJ 100 Proof warming up the crowd above. “It’s like he is playing my Soundcloud playlist,” said Austin Santiago of D0206 about 100 Proof music selection. Geo of Blue Scholars was also in attendance as a special guest host of the show. Casey of Sensebellum made these photos possible with his expert lighting skills and you can checkout some of those photos of Flavr Blue below. About the Flavr Blue: After a summer of major milestones, the Seattle-based trio the Flavr Blue is about to deliver their most anticipated release yet: The Love Notes EP, a collection that marries the group’s crackling energy with a soulful musical wisdom inherited from influences ranging from Cut Copy and Miike Snow to Feist and Sade. Within just this year, the band put on a show-stealing main stage performance at Seattle’s Capitol Hill Block Party that landed them on the front page of the Seattle Times, has seen their single “We […]
Meet BB-8 from the new Star Wars movie “The Force Awakens” in toy form. I recently purchased the BB-8 and decided to shoot a small promo video for it. BB-8 from Sphero is something unlike any other robot – an adaptive personality that changes as you play. Based on your interactions, BB-8 will show a range of expressions and even perk up when you give voice commands. You can watch the video I created below. My dog Charlie really like the toy at first. Now he is kinda bored of playing with it. Regardless, the technology in this little toy is pretty rad and I already have my tickets for Dec. 19th to see the new movie. Now I just hope Luke Skywalker is not Kylo Ren…
I really enjoy West Seattle. It has a small beach-town vibe, but is part of the city. During the summer I venture to Alki Beack quite a lot to skimboard and longboard. I find myself still going out there in the winter for the views and it’s not nearly as crowded as it is during the summer. I recently went out to West Seattle to longboard, walk my dog Charlie, grab some dinner and capture some photos. As Charlie (the dog) ran around on the beach I noticed some clouds rolling in behind the Space Needle as the sun was going down and started shooting photos. As I zoomed out I noticed a red object appearing in the water. As it got closer I realized it was a man swimming, without a wetsuit, in November. As he ran out of the water I asked him what he was doing and if he wanted a copy of the photo and he said mid-sprint “Preparing for a Triathlon. Not Thanks!” and continued running towards his car. I would have done the same. From what I am told people swimming, paddle boarding and any other “summer” activity you can think of still takes […]
Over the past couple months I have been filming with DB Longboards team rider Devon Dotson skating on the Keystone 37″. We hit up a downhill spot near Mount Vernon, but besides that we filmed in the Seattle area. We hit up two skate parks and a couple freeride spots. It was somewhat difficult to film due to all of the rain, but we managed to put together this edit by our December 1st deadline. Hope you like the new video and you can view it below.
I have been editing so many longboarding and skimboarding videos I captured last summer it is seriously making me miss the summer weather, actives and vibes. I had to hold all of this media for winter product releases and I just released my first media package for the Atlas Trucks Touch Enabled Slide Gloves last Wednesday. You can find out more about those wonderful gloves by CLICKING HERE. I really enjoyed filming editing this video and we did the whole shoot in one day, which was great. Atlas Trucks team rider Jackson Wells and I ventured to Everett to find some new longboarding spots that have not been overshot and we did find a couple of great spots. Check the video and photos below.
Super rad day at the Washington Triple Crown of Downhill. Here’s all the photos I captured and feel free to use them as long as you give me photo credit and tag @equalmotion on Instagram, Facebook, Tumblr and/or Twitter. You also must never ride a Solo Wheel and/or Razor Scooter for the rest of your life (see photo below). If you want high-resolution copies of the photos you can email me at email@example.com. Thanks to Nate Blackburn and Bradley Cameron for putting on a super fun event.
I love capturing photos in the summer, but over the past couple years autumn has become my favorite season due to fall colors. I didn’t get a ton of time to explore Seattle looking for fall colors, but here’s a few photos I did manage to capture over the past month or so. Some of these photo were captured in Capitol Hill, the Washington Park Arboretum, Beacon Hill, West Seattle, Kerry Park and Ballard. Nearly all of these photos are available for commercial use and framed and canvas prints are available along with t-shirts, cell phone cases, pillows and more by going to my Pixels.com account (click here to check it out). ght=”600″ /> Follow along on: Instagram Twitter Facebook Tumblr You can purchase prints of my photos, cell phone cases, bed sheets, bags and even shower curtains on my FineArtAmerica account here: Fine Art America Prints Also, some of these photos are available for commercial use on my 500px account that you can get to by checking out here: 500pxart.com/equalmotion You can also see more of my professional work at: http://mattmcdonaldphotos.com
I recently captured some photos and video of Ian Hilger riding the DB Longboards Dyad V2 longboard for SkateSlate Magazine and figured I would repost some of the photos here. As of late I have gotten more into the freestyle type of longboarding and spent a bulk of my vacation teaching my self how to land an old school kick flip (there is a reason I am professional photographer, not a professional skateboader).
