Over three years ago I stumbled across a dog labeled as a corgi/lab mix named Charlie on Petfinder.com. I contacted the adoption service and scheduled a time to meet the dog. When I arrived to meet the dog at the adoption agency Charlie ran over to me and jumped up on my leg. We have been best friends ever since.

One of the best parts of having a dog is always having someone to explore with and go on adventures. Charlie loves the beach, going on runs and cruising on a skateboard with me. Here are some recent photos I captured with Charlie.

Skimboarding

Charlie and I skimboarding at Richmond Beach outside of Seattle. This photo was a fun one to capture and I used a remote trigger to capture the photo of Charlie and myself. This photo is still the most popular photo ever posted on the DB Skimboards Instagram account. It has nothing to do with me and everything to do with Charlie. Once again proving people love dogs!

Watching the sunrise

My girlfriend Alyne and dog Charlie taking in a San Juan Island sunrise. Whenever I travel this photo is always the background on my phone. I love these two and they make me so happy.

Celebrating Holidays

Did I have to lay on the ground for 45 minutes waiting for Charlie to fall asleep? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes!

We also made a video about shopping for pet-friendly Halloween costumes. Charlie is way better at acting than me.

He’s my biggest fan

No matter what I do, Charlie is down to come with me and watch. I spent an afternoon teaching myself how to cross step on a longboard and Charlie chilled on a ledge watching me. Whenever I take a skateboard break from work he also wanders with me and watches (and is always concerned when I fall).

Sweet Freedom

When Charlie gets off the leash he takes off and runs in a giant circle. Due to his long body, people always say he looks like Falcor from the Never Ending Story.

Always Ready For an Adventure

When I am bored and need to get out and away from my computer Charlie is always down to do something. When I lived by myself before I had a dog I remember sometimes I just wouldn’t do anything because all my friends were busy. Charlie fixed that and I never have an excuse to not leave the house because I have him to accompany me.

Lazy Sunday

Not only is Charlie always down for an adventure, he is always down to watch Netflix and relax.

Overall, if you are looking for a dog please go and look at local shelters and other adoption agencies. Charlie is such a loyal, happy, and loving dog who needed a home and it turned out I needed him just as much as he needed me.
