Black and White Photo Challenge

Bryce Casselaman nominated me for the Black And White Photo Challenge and it seemed like a fun thing to participate in. Here’s the 5 photos I decided to go with for the challenge. Pipeline The photo I decided to post first was from a huge day at Pipeline on the North Shore of Oahu in 2008. This was easily the most amazing day of surfing I have ever witnessed and I remember this was the only guy who went right while I was there. He pretty much got destroyed right after this frame, but the drop he had alone must have made it work it. A ferry ride to Lopez Island I love my girlfriend Alyne and I love taking photos of her. When we first started hanging out she wasn’t a huge fan of me taking photos of her, but over the the past 10 months she has really opened up to letting me capture more portraits of her. Joel Parkinson wins the ASP surfing title, Two of our photos at Sunset Beach

Although we were rooting for Kelly Slater to take home his 12th ASP world title congrats to Joel Parkinson on the win. We have been lucky enough to watch Parkinson surf at Sunset Beach in the past. These two photos of ours were taken of Parko at Sunset Beach, in Hawaii. Joel Parkinson won his first ASP World Title last Friday on the final day of the Billabong Pipeline Masters on Oahu’s North Shore when Kelly Slater failed to advance out of his semifinal heat. Parkinson also secured his first Pipe Masters event victory later in the day. A newcomer to surfing’s top spot, Australia’s Parkinson, 31, has four runner-up world title finishes in his 11-year career on tour. The last time he surfed in a title match was also at Pipeline, where he lost to fellow Aussie Mick Fanning in 2009. Though Parkinson had not won a world tour event since early 2011, the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach, he had been deadly consistent this season, making several finals and never finishing worse than ninth place. He had been the points leader for the back half of the season.
