Capturing a photo beneath the old stone bridge above Whatcom Creek with the leaves changing colors has always been on my Bellingham photos to do list and I finally had the chance to do it. It was kind of sketchy to get to the location due to a slippery muddy slope and at one point the tripod connected to my backpack did get stuck in a tree branch. It was worth the muddy shoes though. Here’s two photos from the day on the muddy slope and one from on top of the bridge.

I made the trip down to Portland with my girlfriend Alyne to get away for the weekend and I thoroughly pondered not taking a camera with me. Alyne said “you know you will regret if you don’t bring a camera” and she was right. In-between eating at Voodoo Donuts and sampling some beer at Deschutes Brewery I took a little bit of time to capture a long exposure photo of Hawthorne Bridge and the Portland cityscape over the Wilamette River. Portland Cityscape: Buy a print Hawthorne Bridge: Buy a print I also made the trip down to Tacoma this week to meet with the DB Skimboards guys to talk about some upcoming projects. I went down to Seattle for the weekend and had a little bit of time to wander around and take photos. Here’s a few photos from Volunteer Park, Pike Place Market, the Great Wheel and the Hammering Man. I need to spend more time in Seattle to capture better photos of all of these landmarks.
Whenever the skies are clear in Bellingham I try and go out and take long exposure photos of the area and it has been a personal project for the past couple months. Here are a few of my favorite long exposure photos captured in Whatcom County from the past few months.
The Bellingham Herald sent me up to Mt. Baker Ski Area for opening day on Nov. 21, 2013. It was easily my favorite photo assignment to date. It days like this that put a huge smile on my face. Here’s the photos and video from the day.
It was over 80 degrees in Bellingham and I had the day off from work. Dana and I pondered where we should go and decided to revisit Clayton Beach just outside of Larrabee State Park. Here’s some photos from the day.
Just a few photos of the supermoon in Bellingham from last weekend. I actually forgot this was happening and when I walked outside last night I saw the moon and scrambled to get a few photos. Here’s what I captured. (The above photo is two photos edited together)
