Seattle Seahawks City brought to you by the 12th Man

The Seattle Seahawks are on their way to their second Super Bowl and I could not be more stoked. After having the opportunity to capture a game on the field this season and talking briefly with Doug Baldwin and Pete Carroll I could not be more of a fan than I ever have in my life. The Seahawks vs Packers game was easily the most amazing football I have ever watched and I have watched it in its entirety again already. Seattle and all the 12s go all out to support the Seahawks and here are some of the photos I have captured over the past couple week around the city of Seattle. Go Hawks! And below is one of my photo of a crowded CenturyLink field I captured way back in 2010. Tomorrow for Blue Friday I plan on posting a bunch of my favorite photos I captured on the field while at the Seahawks game this season. 2015 Bellingham Herald Calendar

Although I no longer work at The Bellingham Herald one of my last projects there was putting together a 2015 calendar. I am in Seattle now I haven’t seen the physical calendar yet, but I have heard it turned out well and they are selling the calendars for $3 at The Bellingham Herald customer service office or you can buy it online by CLICKING HERE. The Herald released the 2015 calendar featuring 11 of my photos along with the cover (Fellow photographer Phil Dwyer snagged October’s fall color photo). Below you can see all the photos that ran in the calendar categorized by month with the description the editorial staff at The Bellingham Herald wrote. January – Bald eagles live in northwest Washington year-round. Good places to look for them include Deming Homestead Eagle Park, Birch Bay State Park, and the Skagit River Bald Eagle Interpretive Center in Rockport. February – Mt. Baker Ski Area is a popular starting point backcountry skiers and snowboarders, but they must have proper equipment and must know about avalanche risks. March – Berries, potatoes and other crops contribute to the bounty of Whatcom County farms. April – Cherry blossoms add gentle hues to the […]

Seattle Photography

A few recent Seattle cityscape and landscape photos I captured since I moved to Seattle in mid-December 2014. A fair amount of these photo were captured from my roof top in Capitol Hill and others just during my commute to work. Now that I am finally settled in to my apartment I am excited to start exploring more and capturing the Seattle photos I always wanted to. If you are interested in prints or using any of these for commercial purposes feel free to email me at matt@equalmotion.com or check out my 500px account by CLICKING HERE. Seattle New Year’s Fireworks from the Space Needle

It was my first year bringing in the new year while living in Seattle and I just happen to have a great view of the Space Needle from my apartment rooftop in Capitol Hill. Here’s a few photos I captured last night of the fireworks shooting off of the Space Needle. It was the first time I saw it in person and I gotta say it was much cooler than I anticipated. Some of these photos have been very popular on Instagram to my surprise and if anyone wants prints or to use them for promotional use feel free to email me at matt@equalmotion.com. Happy 2015 Everyone!

Whatcom Falls bridge

Capturing a photo beneath the old stone bridge above Whatcom Creek with the leaves changing colors has always been on my Bellingham photos to do list and I finally had the chance to do it. It was kind of sketchy to get to the location due to a slippery muddy slope and at one point the tripod connected to my backpack did get stuck in a tree branch. It was worth the muddy shoes though. Here’s two photos from the day on the muddy slope and one from on top of the bridge.

Portland, Seattle and Tacoma cityscapes

I made the trip down to Portland with my girlfriend Alyne to get away for the weekend and I thoroughly pondered not taking a camera with me. Alyne said “you know you will regret if you don’t bring a camera” and she was right. In-between eating at Voodoo Donuts and sampling some beer at Deschutes Brewery I took a little bit of time to capture a long exposure photo of Hawthorne Bridge and the Portland cityscape over the Wilamette River. Portland Cityscape: Buy a print Hawthorne Bridge: Buy a print I also made the trip down to Tacoma this week to meet with the DB Skimboards guys to talk about some upcoming projects. The view of Mt Rainier was so clear that day I had to take a few photos and the one below is from Ruston Way. Mount Rainier over Tacoma: Buy a print On the way back to Bellingham I made a stop at Kerry Park in Seattle and also captured a few photos of the Seattle skyline with Mt Rainier in it. Seattle cityscape: Buy a print here Gotta love summers in the Pacific Northwest and I am glad I still have over a month left of […]
