I recently had three photos featured in the new issue of Pulse Skimboarding Magazine. One photo of Casey Gackle skimboarding in Bellingham, a photo of Adam Balaam skimboarding in San Francisco and a photo of Isaac Thomas skimboarding in Tacoma. It’s always great to help boost the skimboarding scene and to get some photos of my friends and DB Skimboards team riders into magazine.
A month ago I traveled with DB Skimboards to San Francisco, California to capture some photos and video for a new skimboard called the Sacramento Pro. I met up with Adam Balaam at Baker Beach and we filmed for about 2 hours. We captured a ton of photos and video and even used a drone to capture a unique view of the stream Adam was skimboarding in. Here’s the video edit I captured for the Sac Pro skimboard promotion and it is easily one of my favorite skimbaording videos I have created to date. DB Skimboards also used some of my photos for their 2015 Skimboard Catalog that you can view here. Overall it was my first time to San Francisco and it was the first time I have seen the Golden Gate Bridge with my own two eyes. It was a pretty cool experience and I gotta say I am stoked to work full-time in the action sports industry capturing skimboarding and skateboarding.
For the past 6 years I have been attending and capturing the DB Pro skimboarding contest that takes place at Dash Point in Federal Way, Washington. Here’s my video edit and a few photos from the contest. The 2014 DB Skimboards Pro/AM took place on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Dash Point, in Federal Way, Washington. To the surprise of no one Isaac Thomas took the pro division win again with his brother Josiah Thomas taking first in the amateur division. Bree Staab won the women’s division and Reed Shumpert won the amateur division. Outside of the standings there was a ton of solid tricks landed by the likes of Devin Poulton and his madonna and Cardo Vega and the benihana. Adam Ballaam took 2nd in the pro division and although he didn’t have as many clean landings as Isaac, Adam put on one hell of a show. Cody Mauer from Utah also stood out by going big and landing a ton of tricks. Ruei Chiu from Taiwan also competed, so the contest had an international presence outside of the United States and Canada, which is always great to see. I spent a month in Europe last summer capturing photos and video of the DB Skimboards team. You can see the video here and a few photos from our stay in Germany. You can see all of my photos, videos and words from the trip by going to SkimMagazine.com and clicking this link.
I had the opportunity to travel and skimboard with DB Skimboards this summer and we ventured to Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark and Poland. Here’s some video, photos and words from our brief stay in Denmark. We had only a few hours to stay in Denmark and we found the best beach for skimboarding we could. The spot left a lot to be desired, but Friedrich and Daniel made the best of it using what they could find on the beach. Minus the naked old men it was a beautiful beach and was well worth the stop or at least we thought that until we got back to the van. As we walked back to the van we approached it and notice one of the doors was open. “We locked the doors for sure,” Dallas insisted and I ran up to the van where we could see someone broke a window and got into the van where they stole backpacks that were in the middle of the van. They didn’t have enough time to get everything, but the damage was done. They stole Dallas’s Nikon D5100, Daniels Cannon 55D, Adam and Logan’s wallets and passports, one of my credit cards, […]
I had the opportunity to travel and skimboard with DB Skimboards this summer and we ventured to Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark and Poland. Here’s some video, photos and words from our first stop in Denmark. We finished up at the 2013 DB Pro/Am in Washington state, some of us slept for a few hours and some of us stayed up all night and partied. We flew out of Seattle to the Netherlands early in the morning and the whole flight was filled with the anticipation of how the DB European Skim Tour would start. “The Netherlands was an amazing place to fly into,” said Adam Balaam. “It was all super flat and loaded with farmland. As far as you could look there were grassy fields and windmills, lots of large metal windmills.” We arrived at the Amsterdam airport with our luggage and board bags and were picked up by Friedrich Fluh and his father Michael in a large Ford van. In the parking garage Friedrich greeted us all with beers. We were finally in Europe. Although we were exhausted from the flight and the contest the day before we drove straight to Adrien Raza’s hours in the Rotterdam, Netherlands, […]
