Seattle Fall Colors

I love capturing photos in the summer, but over the past couple years autumn has become my favorite season due to fall colors. I didn’t get a ton of time to explore Seattle looking for fall colors, but here’s a few photos I did manage to capture over the past month or so. Some of these photo were captured in Capitol Hill, the Washington Park Arboretum, Beacon Hill, West Seattle, Kerry Park and Ballard. Freestyle Longboarding with DB Longboards

Whistler Longboard Festival Video and Photos

I spent last weekend sitting on top of a mountain in the rain capturing photos of the WhistlerLongboard Festival. Luckily I was brought enough rain gear to keep me dry for three days. Landed the cover photo of Whatcom Magazine

One of my photos from Artist Point landed on the cover of Whatcom Magazine. I also wrote a story about skimboarding for the issue and they ran a photo of myself skimboarding as a double page spread along with one of my photos of DB Skimboards team rider Casey Gackle. I still actively freelance since leaving my job as a full-time photojournalist and love the opportunity to still write outdoor stories for Whatcom Magazine and The Bellingham Herald.

Seattle Skateboarding with Devon Dotson

Some people may not know, but I am the team manager for DB Longboards, DB Skimboards, Atlas Trucks and Cloud Ride Wheels. I recently added Seattle longboarder and skateboarder Devon Dotson to the DB Longboards team and am pretty excited about it since he is really fun to skate and shoot with. Here’s some recent photos of him I captured at the skate park and smashing through local hills along with a fresh edit of him I shot and edited that was released today.

Seattle: Washington Park Arboretum Marine Trail

The Washington Park Arboretum sits along Lake Washington in Seattle, Washington and it is a beautiful place to explore in the Seattle time. I recently took a walk with my girlfriend Alyne and dog Charlie along the Marine Trail and captured a few photos. The parks 230 acres offers a dynamic assortment of plants found nowhere else and this trail was beautiful. The trail weaves around the shoreline and underneath the I-90 bridge. You can see lots of boats, canoes and jet ski’s roaming the lake along with a great view of the Montlake Bridge that carries State Route 513 (Montlake Boulevard) over Seattle’s Montlake Cut—part of the Lake Washington Ship Canal—connecting Montlake and the University District. The Montlake Bridge is celebrated as the site of boating season’s “opening day” festivities the first Saturday in May and today it was obvious boating season was in full-effect. DB Skimboards Skim Camp Photos and video (cute kids post)

Last week I captured photos and video for DB Skimboards of their annual DB Skim Camp at Dash Point in Federal Way, Washington. Not only were these kids unbelievably stoked to be at the beach all day they were also just adorable. Here’s some photos and a promo edit I made during one day of the skimboard camp. Seattle Seafair: Rooftop View Of The Blue Angles

When I still lived in Bellingham and was looking for places to live in Seattle my main objective was to find a place close to Volunteer Park with a view. I did find that perfect apartment and have really enjoyed my placement in the city and roof access. It’s where I have captured a vast majority of my Seattle cityscapes photos this year. Saturday and Sunday I took advantage my rooftop view and captured a few photos and video of the Blue Angels flying around the Seattle skyline. All the dogs in the apartment also had a small party while the humans watched jets fly by. Next year I need to rent a 400mm f2.8 and try to capture photos from a different vantage point.
