Guide to Summer Cover photo and Harry the dancing dog

I captured the cover of the Guide to Summer with a photo from Boulevard Park in early June. I also had an eagle photo and a photo of Harry the dog run inside the annual magazine. Last night while shooting Downtown Sounds in Bellingham I saw Harry again enjoying the show and had to shoot a quick video of him.

Relive the 4th of July in Whatcom County

It’s July 5th and my hand hurts from shooting so much video and photos for work and personal stuff yesterday. I started out at the Blaine’s Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration to capture the parade and car show. You can see video of both below. Pretty much quick raw edits to give you an idea of what happened. After that I drove back to Bellingham attended a BBQ, ate a meal of food and then went up to Sehome hill to capture the fireworks. You can see that video here and a few photos below: Now that I am done with this blog post I am off to Locust Beach to take photos of a post 4th of July beach cleanup.

Whatcom Magazine Cover and inside photos

The Bellingham Herald (my day job) puts out Whatcom Magazine several times a year. For the new issue I landed the cover photo with my macro photos of raspberries, a photo of the Hovander House in Ferndale and the back page with an eagle photo. 2013 Ski to Sea Race

Yesterday I covered the cross country and downhill legs of the 2013 Ski to Sea Race for The Bellingham Herald. It was my first time covering the two legs that take place at Mt Baker Ski area at the beginning of the race. Luckily I had Ron Lang of Mt Baker Ski Area to take me around on a snowmobile to get the shots I need of all the action. Since it was raining heavily certain areas of the cross country leg were quit slick. I noticed from afar cross country skiers falling in one section, so I ran over there to get the shot. That photo landed on the front page of The Bellingham Herald you can see above. It was raining so hard that even with rain gear my on my Nikon D3 and Cannon 5D both cameras stopped working about an hour into the race. Luckily I packed a Nikon 7100 and a 50mm lens in my camera backpack and was able to finish shooting the race. Below are a few more photos from The Bellingham Herald’s photo gallery.
