Skimboarding Bellingham on the front page…

I have been trying to capture the final days of summer and a few weeks back The Bellingham Herald sent me out to get some photos of skimboarding (which was great!). My photo snagged the front page of the paper and I also threw together an edit from the skimboarding session you can watch below. DB Skimboards: Urban Skimboarding at Chazzzam

The DB Skimboards Washington team made the trip to Bellingham, Washington with the skim pool for the Chazzzam / Empty Roll Productions fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters. It was a great community event for a great non-profit that introduced a whole new group of people to skimboarding. Take a look at all the video and photos from the event. The riders featured are Tony Saddler, Blake Zimmerman, Tim Petitt, Emile Panerio, Casey Gackle and Mckai Morgan and Ty Garceau.

Harry the skimboarding dog

Saturday my girlfriend Dana and I took our friend Kelsey’s dog Harry to Locust Beach. I brought my skimboard with me and had to try and get Harry to ride it. Now not every dog is as talented as the Tillman the skimboarding dog, but Harry gave it his best. 2013 Ski to Sea Race

Yesterday I covered the cross country and downhill legs of the 2013 Ski to Sea Race for The Bellingham Herald. It was my first time covering the two legs that take place at Mt Baker Ski area at the beginning of the race. Luckily I had Ron Lang of Mt Baker Ski Area to take me around on a snowmobile to get the shots I need of all the action. Since it was raining heavily certain areas of the cross country leg were quit slick. I noticed from afar cross country skiers falling in one section, so I ran over there to get the shot. That photo landed on the front page of The Bellingham Herald you can see above. It was raining so hard that even with rain gear my on my Nikon D3 and Cannon 5D both cameras stopped working about an hour into the race. Luckily I packed a Nikon 7100 and a 50mm lens in my camera backpack and was able to finish shooting the race. Below are a few more photos from The Bellingham Herald’s photo gallery. Flatland Magazine Preview: McKai Morgan Skimboarding Session

McKai Morgan’s threw down during his first skimboarding session back in Bellingham, Washington. McKai has been in Bozeman, Montana and hasn’t skimmed since November 2, 2012. These are just a few throw away photos we snapped from the session and a first person video using our GoPro camera from the session. The quality photos from the shoot will be displayed in the June issue of Flatland Magazine, which is an online magazine we create and manage five time a year. Mini Skimboarding Edit

I have been in the process of slowly moving from Final Cut to Adobe Premiere for video editing. Last night I stayed up late and taught myself everything I need to know to make the official move. Above is the sample video I created as a test of my friend Matt and myself skimboarding (hence the video title Matt and Matt go skimboarding). The new Final Cut left a lot to desire, so the move to Premiere made sense. (Above: A self portrait of myself skimboarding)
