Football Thriller: Blaine v. Sehome

There was one heck of a football game Sept. 26, 2014 at Civic Stadium in Bellingham. It looked like Sehome was going to run away with the game, but that’s not how it all played out. Blaine made one heck of a comeback and took the win in the 4th Quarter. Here’s some words by The Bellingham Herald sports editor Dave Rasbach… There’s no disputing the raw speed of Sehome junior Taylor Rapp, but as quick as he is, he wasn’t the fastest thing on the Civic Stadium turf on Friday, Sept. 26. That honor belongs to the emotional roller coaster Blaine receiver Anthony Ball was on in the closing minutes of the Class 2A/3A Northwest Conference game between the Mariners and Borderites. With about two minutes remaining in regulation and his team trailing by six points, Ball broke behind the Sehome defensive backfield, hauled in a pass from quarterback Nathan Kramme and was running seemingly unchallenged toward the end zone and a 67-yard touchdown that would have tied the game and given his team a chance to take the lead with an extra point. Photos: Bellingham Bells win the WCL Championship

I have been capturing photos of the Bellingham Bells baseball team all summer for The Bellingham Herald. Last season the team won the West Coast League Championship beating the Corvallis Knights 3-2. The Bells finish the season 41-18, the best record in Bells history and the fourth time in WCL history that a team reached 40 wins. It was a fun season to capture photos of and I learned a lot about how to capture baseball. Here’s some photos from the championship game. I have never captured photos of a rodeo before, but that all changed this week when I was sent to the Northwest Washington Fair in Lynden, Washington for The Bellingham Herald. Luke Ridnour Basketball Camp

I had the opportunity to capture photos for The Bellingham Herald of Orlando Magic point guard’s Luke Ridnour’s basketball camp in Blaine, Washington. Ridnour grew up in Blaine and has played for multiple NBA teams ranging from the Sonics (RIP) to the Minnesota Timberwolves over his 12-year career. Motocross in Bellingham

2014 DB Pro Skimboarding Contest

For the past 6 years I have been attending and capturing the DB Pro skimboarding contest that takes place at Dash Point in Federal Way, Washington. Here’s my video edit and a few photos from the contest. The 2014 DB Skimboards Pro/AM took place on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Dash Point, in Federal Way, Washington. To the surprise of no one Isaac Thomas took the pro division win again with his brother Josiah Thomas taking first in the amateur division. Bree Staab won the women’s division and Reed Shumpert won the amateur division. Outside of the standings there was a ton of solid tricks landed by the likes of Devin Poulton and his madonna and Cardo Vega and the benihana. Adam Ballaam took 2nd in the pro division and although he didn’t have as many clean landings as Isaac, Adam put on one hell of a show. Cody Mauer from Utah also stood out by going big and landing a ton of tricks. Ruei Chiu from Taiwan also competed, so the contest had an international presence outside of the United States and Canada, which is always great to see. Permacation Cable Park Grand Opening

Photos and video I captured of the new Permacation Cable Park on Bow Lake for The Bellingham Herald. Pro wakeboarders Mike Ennen and Kevin Henshaw and Bow Lake owner Doug Spaady opened the Permacation Cable Park in Alger on Sunday, June 29.

Mt Baker Seshup Photos and Video

A few of my friends convinced me to go up to the 2014 Mt Baker Seshup at Mt Baker last weekend and I do not regret the decision to go in the least bit. It was a beautiful day and a damn good time. Close to 200 people gathered to watch some of the top snowboarders in the region show their stuff at the 2014 Mt. Baker Seshup on Sunday, June 1, on Grandma’s at the base of Mount Herman near Mt. Baker Ski Area. The session featured a gap on the in run and a 10- to 12-foot jump that launched riders 20 to 25 feet in the air and 40 feet out.
