I wanted to go to Texas just, so I can see if it lived up to the stereo type the state projects. It does.
They really, really like meat and large portions. We ventured to Driftwood, Texas to check out the Salt Lick Bar, which is known for it’s world-renowned Bar-B-Que. It was delicious. I must say I was kind of blown away by the amount of Styrofoam, the fact that it was a BYOB restaurant, the lack of vegetables and the amount of preachers in there working on their sermons.

After that we drove back to Austin Texas to get a taste of 6th Street “the live music capital of America”. Along the way though I spotted a sign that unique to Texas.

Boot City..we had to go in. It was a Costco for western gear.

Boot City had some of the best sales people ever. One of my friends walked out with a fresh pair of boots he was not planning on purchasing.
The influence of church in Texas and the south overall is very evident.
The state actually pays for road “church signs”.

This ensures if you have been a sinner and need to pray you will have ample time to pull over and get some worshiping in. I have nothing against people going to church. but this really kills the whole separation of church and state concept.

Long story short. Everything is bigger in Texas.

The mindset in the Pacific Northwest is very different than Texas. Texas is a hippies worst nightmare. Church’s everywhere, vegetables are made of meat, styrofoam is in great abundance and everything is bigger. Just like I thought.
